Great place for a good burger

The taste was good but homemade ingredients. Milk shakes are real which is awesome.

We love the Hitching Post. It has been in High River for what feels like, forever. The owners are kind and care about our community. Unfortunately, it is a tiny little structure and it is only a drive through and pick up location. It's usually very busy so you must always be prepared for a bit of a wait. They do take orders over the phone, which is handy. The food is ok. Not something I would really "write home" about. But many people enjoy the food and specifically, their amazing list or scrumptious milkshakes. That in itself is why I go there. Have you ever had a mint, Skor and Oreo milkshake? I highly suggest it and if not, you can build your own personalflavor-favorite.

This is my go to place every spring. It's closed during the winter months, so It's a sign of summer to me when it finally opens.I order ahead by mobile, when headed from Calgary. When I get to around Aldersyde I start dialing.I usually order an HP burger with a shake. The burger itself has two patties, plus the regular stuff and a piece of back bacon. I'm a real burger guy, and I always come back to this tasty treat.They also have your usual fries, and o rings, plus they have deep fried mushrooms.Try it when they're open for business, you wont be disappointed.

Good food and they accommodated my restricted diet. Will definitely go back.

Kickass burgers

Mixed real strawberry banana shake and an HP burger = great summer memories!!!

Ordered a BBQ burger.. they said Ooohhh The HP burger.. i am unsure but figured BBQ sauce was the same everywhere.. got my burger 🤮 kidding.. but there was no bbq sauce or bacon.. 2 round slices of ham( so called "Canadian bacon" )... not bacon ppl i get it both comes from the same animal but come on.. not rocket science. This used to be the best place to eat within 100km a few years ago.. not sure if the ownership changed or the employees are just lazy bit its not what it used to be and now i think i will be going to mc donalds instead of here from now on...

Fantastic burgers and shakes but be aware it may take a while.

This is hands down the most poorly managed and operated burger joint I have ever seen.

Long time customer. Was really disappointed when told our 2 burgers would be 25 min and took over 50. Both mushroom burgers were wet and soggy. Will just stick to the cheese burger moving forward.

Love this place. I always get a cheese burger, 1/2 onion rings and a small vanilla shake. Their onion rings and shakes are the best I've had. Call ahead with your order and you can pick it up right when you arrive. Place gets really busy in the summer. Open in the spring and closes in the fall for winter.

Best burger in High River (HP Burger) Must get a shake as well it's the best combo here. Also new update they now have debit here but still bring cash it helps

Food is fresh, staff is great, kitchen is really small though so be prepared for a wait on the weekends. Burgers were some of the best I've had, local beef if I had to guess

Been waiting for an hour; still no food. I'm sure it's tasty but if there is any sort of line up you are better off elsewhere. No burger is worth this wait.

Great classic drive-in with awesome burgers, fries and onion rings. The milkshakes are also pretty good!

On Covid times you have to call to make your order, they call you when is ready for pick up.Lots of parking

Tried the mushroom burger for the first time. It was okay, not something I would go out of my way for. Happy to support local rather than a franchise but long waits and price point is not encouraging. Love the real fruit milkshake.

Excellent customer service. Delicious, hot food made for each order. It's open seasonally.

It's 5 stars if you have the patience to wait for your food. It taste cook to order, which is why it takes a while to get your food. However it worth it if you aren't in a hurry. Burgers taste hot and fresh off the grill. Great home made beef patty taste, unlike the process beef patty at Wendy's or McDonald's.

A High River institution. The food is not fancy but it is good. My favourite is the HP burger which comes with burger patty, ham, tomato, onion, lettuce, relish and mustard. Make sure you have an appetite. Their milkshakes are nice and thick and some of the flavours you can have real fruit added such as strawberry. I cannot comment of the fries as we did not have any with our order this time.

Food is 5/5, waiting for your food is 2/5. It usually takes around 25-35 minutes for your order to be completed, depends on how busy they are. It will be more convenient if you call them and order on the phone, then pick it up after 40 minutes.

Great burgers and shakes.

Absolutely Worst burgers we’ve had for a long time. The burger itself was very small and quite dry. The “mushroom sauce” was pretty much tinned creamed mushrooms. Won’t ever go back there for burgers again!

Have some time on your hands go by...its usually a wait but it's fresh and while your waiting is a good chance to meet other hamburger aficionados waiting patiently, don't be jealous of milkshake people as they will be on their way fast, but relish...hahah relish.. In the fact that they are missing out on one of the greatest little burgers anywhere.

Best fries I've ever had in my life!! I don't know how they do it, but skip McDonald's and get your burger and fry fix here!
